CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE 27 APRIL 2020

EQUESTRIAN NORTHERN TERRITORY STATEMENT CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE 27 APRIL 2020

Chief Minister, Michael Gunner announced today the NT Government has commenced lifting restrictions with the re-opening of some of our national parks 1 May, and currently working thru the roadmap for further adjustments.

The goal is to have increased capacity in business, sport and leisure by sometime in June.  The Chief Minister commented ‘this will not be back to normal, this will be a new normal’ the new normal will continue to observe social distancing, keeping in small groups until a vaccination is available.

Slowing easing restrictions will increase the responsibilities on Territorians to continue to do the right thing so we do not revert to tougher restrictions.  Our Borders will remain secured and will be the last thing to re-open.

What does this all mean for the sport of equestrian?  We are hoping to have further information to share with you later this week.  However, as a first glance when we can re-open our seasons due to Border security, we won’t be able to bring in interstate; judges, course designers, educators and coaches.  We WILL be able to run activities with local judges, course designers, educators and coaches.

Like the NT Government, ENT is working with your clubs to establish a roadmap to re-open the equestrian season in the Territory.

Please stay patient and continue the good work observing all the CHO directions, it is because of Territorians commitment we are in this positive position.

Anne-Marie Cruickshank

Chair, Equestrian Northern Territory
