Equestrian Australia Annual General Meeting Lapses
The Equestrian Australia (EA) Annual General Meeting, which was adjourned last week when a quorum could not be established, was rescheduled for last night Monday 25th January 2021, and subsequently lapsed.
For the second week in a row, the number of voting members required in person or by proxy to form a quorum was not met and resulted in the lapsing of the meeting.
Although the AGM has lapsed EA has fulfilled all statutory obligations to hold an AGM.
The quorum required was 820 voting members and 654 voting members attended. This means the ‘Special Business Notice of Motion’ that was tabled for the meeting to grant Equestrian Northern Territory (ENT) the same voting rights as those held by other state branches, lapsed, and was not voted on.
Whilst this attempt to reinstate ENT in EA Constitution was unsuccessful, Northern Territory members are not disenchanted, and commend the 654 voting members and the State representatives who attended the meeting last night to exercise their right to vote.
Northern Territory members thank and appreciate all those members around the country who engaged in this process to effect constitutional change.
Though the notice of motion was lapsed last night, this does not restrict the submission of a further notice of motion, which is allowed under the current EA Constitution.
